We’re Christian and Angela, a long-distance couple, splitting our time between London and Berlin.

When we’re apart, we don’t always have time for long calls or planned evenings together. We wanted something that could be part of the ordinary moments instead.

So we started playing backgammon.

A move over breakfast, another on the commute, a game waiting for us before bed.

Little by little, the game became a thread running through our days - a simple way to feel connected, one move at a time.

We created bearoff to make that experience our own.

Christian builds the game and the technology behind it, from the core playing experience to everything that makes it work smoothly. Yet, a year ago he didn’t even know how to play the game with the pointy triangles.

Angela shapes the brand and creative side of bearoff, from how it looks and feels to creating content that makes backgammon more approachable and fun.

bearoff is built around a simple idea: making backgammon easy to play and easy to share with the people you care about.
